Behind every decision is a person moving forward.
A trader restocking her stall. A driver staying connected for the next fare. A family managing an unexpected expense without falling behind. Our platform can make a credit decision in under a second—but its real value is what that decision can make possible. This is financial progress, one decision at a time.
Impact is how the business works.
Optasia creates value when our platform helps partners extend responsible financial access to more people. Commercial growth and financial progress are therefore closely connected.
Behind each of these figures are real people reaching formal financial services where an informal, costlier option was once the only choice. As our footprint grows, that reach grows with it.
Small credit. Real steps forward.
Financial progress is rarely one grand leap. It is a series of small, decisive moments: restocking before the market opens, staying connected so the next fare can come through, or covering an unexpected cost without disrupting everything else. Individually, each step may be modest. Together, repeated across communities and markets, they can strengthen the resilience of households and small businesses. That is the progress we help put within reach—one decision at a time.

Responsible lending, built into the platform.
Progress only counts if it strengthens a customer’s position. Responsible lending is therefore built into how the platform assesses eligibility, affordability and appropriate limits, in line with each product and market.
Assess first
Affordability-based decisioning before credit is approved, validated by a low default rate
No surprises
Transparent pricing, disclosed before acceptance and subject to Central Bank approval
Fair terms
No compounding of interest on defaults, and early-repayment rebates across products
No dead ends
no blacklisting after repayment difficulty, with structured refinancing to support continuity
AI in service of people
The decisioning behind our platform uses AI, so how it behaves matters as much as what it enables. Models are governed and monitored throughout their lifecycle, with controls for performance, fairness, explainability, accountability and security. Customer data is handled in line with applicable data-protection requirements and established governance controls.
The technology is always governed and steered by people. Our leadership team has vast experience across Africa, the Middle East, Europe and Asia, combining local understanding with operating experience to support the markets we serve.
Light by design.
We don’t run branches, factories or logistics fleets, so our environmental footprint is naturally small — mostly office operations, travel and the lifecycle of our technology. Where we can go further, we do: our work-from-anywhere policy cuts commuting emissions, and our second-life hardware programme passes refurbished equipment to educational and community organisations rather than retiring it early.
Following our JSE listing in 2025, we strengthened our governance framework in line with applicable listing requirements and the King Code. A majority-independent Board oversees areas including responsible lending, AI governance and data protection, helping accountability evolve with the business.
Across the markets we serve, millions of people and small businesses participate in the economy without being fully visible to formal finance. Closing that gap requires distribution, funding and intelligence working together. That is what Optasia and its partners are built to enable—turning more potential into financial progress.
